Developing the Mental Side of Sports
|
RULLA'S MISSION
At RULLA Sports Empowerment, our mission is to intentionally integrate the mental side of sports into athletic development. Athletes are constantly navigating pressure, mistakes, expectations, confidence, and emotions. We believe these experiences are an important part of development and the way athletes navigate them should not be left to chance. Through high standards, appropriate challenge, and tools for personal development, we help athletes navigate these experiences with direction, ultimately experiencing greater joy, freedom, and confidence when they play. We believe sport has the power to shape who athletes become. By approaching that experience intentionally, sport can become a vehicle for both athletic and personal growth. |
Our Approach
RULLA uses Conscious Coaching to intentionally bring mental development into sport.
Our approach combines intentional mental practices with coaches who are equipped to meet athletes where they are and guide them toward their potential.
Mental Preparation & ReflectionWe use tools such as meditation, visualization, journaling, and reflection to help athletes prepare mentally and learn from their experiences.
Meditation serves as a mental warm-up, helping athletes become more present, focused, clear-minded, and emotionally regulated before training and competition. Journaling and reflection give athletes an opportunity to process their experiences, build self-awareness, and learn from the inevitable highs and lows of sport. |
The CoachThe biggest part of Conscious Coaching is the coach. Our coaches meet athletes where they are and guide them toward their potential. Coaches and athletes go through the developmental journey together, preparing, navigating challenges, working through mistakes, and regulating in real time.
Our coaches aim to remain present and focused so they can recognize when to support, challenge, step back, or adapt to an athlete’s current capacity. The goal is to provide neither too much nor too little challenge, allowing athletes to grow at a healthy pace while preserving their love for the game. Conscious Coaching also requires coaches to manage their own emotions and presence. Our coaches lean on many of the same tools, including meditation and journaling, to prepare themselves and reflect on their coaching. Reflection is one of the most powerful tools we have as coaches. |
